The College

Covenant College is a Christian co-educational day school located in Gordon, ACT.  The College provides quality Christ-centered education from Kindergarten to Year 10 to students from Protestant denominations.  With future plans for senior education, the College currently has a feeder-school arrangement with Trinity Christian School whereby students in Year 10 at Covenant College have priority placement in Year 11 at TCS.

The College receives Territory and Commonwealth funding and is registered under the A.C.T. Education Act.

Tuggeranong Zone Cross Country Carnival

9:30 am – 2:00 pm

The Tuggeranong Primary (12 & under) Zone Cross Country Carnival is planned to be held:

Where: Stromlo Forest Park
Time: 9:30am (first race = 10:00am) to ~1:30pm
Transport: Private transport
Canteen: Yes

Students who gain one of the first five places are selected to enter the ACT Cross Country carnival.

Prayer Meeting

7:30 am – 8:00 am

This is a monthly Prayer Meeting for the College Community - all parents / staff members / Association members are warmly invited to attend.
Venue: Music room

Working Bee - T2

9:00 am – 12:30 pm

The second quarterly Working Bee for the year will be held today to help prepare the grounds for the beginning of Term 2.
It would be great if lawn mowers, whipper snippers, gardening tools, wheel-barrows, gloves, cleaning equipment, safety glasses, ear muffs, etc. could be brought along to this event.

The College will provide morning tea at ~10:30am and a sausage sizzle at ~12:30pm at the conclusion of the activity.

Chaplain's Breakfast

7:30 am – 8:45 am

The Chaplain will be hosting a breakfast for students in Year 4. There will be a guest speaker (Karina Andrews) and the cost will be $3.00 per student.

Excursion - Sydney trip by Years 9 & 10

6:00 am – 8:00 pm

This excursion covers course work undertaken in Science (Chemistry) and Geography (Urban Renewal). Places to be visited are the Australian National Science and Technology Organisation in Lucas Heights, Darling Harbour and Campbelltown.
Note: The bus is now due to arrive at Covenant at 9:30pm (updated at 8:40pm).

NAPLAN Tests

9:30 am – 12:30 pm

The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) testing program takes place at Covenant College and virtually every other school in Australia over a three day period. The results of these assessment are issued to parents later in the year and cohort results published on the MyScool website at the end of the year or at the beginning of the following year.
It should be noted that the NAPLAN results provide only one aspect of a child's / school's progress and that there are many others that should be taken into consideration when measuring 'progress' / 'success'.

Open to Years 3-10 - participation is optional

Cost - $7.70

Open Day

9:00 am – 11:00 am

All current and prospective parents are welcome to attend the Open Day, as are wider family members. During an Open Day, visitors may enter any class they so desire and/or view a display of student work in a separate room. Senior staff will be available to answer any questions. Morning tea is available to all visitors.

Times: 9:00 to 11:00am

An Enrolment Information Evening is held at 7:30pm on the same day as the Open Day. This session seeks to give an overview of the enrolment process / expectations and provide a forum to answer any questions relating to enrolment or College life in general. This session concludes with a time for supper.

TAG Quest

1:00 pm – 3:15 pm

Talents, Abilities and Gifts - TAG Quest

The 'TAG Quest' grand finale is due to take place in the Library today at 1:00pm - all parents / grandparents are welcome to attend!

Lunch time will be at 12:30pm with all students to be seated inthe Library at 12:50pm.

Prizes will be given to students in both the Primary and Secondary levels as follows:

1st - $50 voucher to Koorong Bookshop
2nd - $30 voucher to Koorong Bookshop
3rd - $20 voucher to Koorong Bookshop

The Years 7 & 8 German class will be attending the National Zoo & Aquarium for most of the day.

A three day camp is planned for all Secondary students (Years 7-10) at Mountain Trails (near Wee Jasper). Upon issuing, permission notes must be completed and returned as soon as possible to assist with planning.
The cost of the camp will be approximately $300 (invoiced to family accounts) and will cover all activities and food at the camp, as well as transport to and from the campsite.
